Donations and Gifts

Democracy works when people understand how to use it.

Your support makes that possible - creating free, accessible civic education that meets people where they are and shows them how to participate effectively. This work matters because informed citizens are harder to manipulate, impossible to ignore, and equipped to build the democracy we all deserve.

Together, we're building something born out of resistance and fiery optimism: a platform that turns breaking news into lessons about power, that makes government legible to everyone, and that gives people the tools to hold their representatives accountable.

With love, gratitude, and dutiful patriotism

Questions about donations and gifts

No. Donations to Principle Civics are not currently tax-deductible. You'll receive an email receipt for your records, but you should not claim it as a charitable tax deduction.

Your donation supports the general work of Principle Civics: product and content development, ongoing operations, and the developers and educators who build the platform. When possible, we prioritize donated funds to provide or subsidize access for low-income learners and classrooms on a first-come, first-served basis.

We use Stripe to process payments securely. You can pay with major credit and debit cards, and Stripe-supported wallets (like Apple Pay or Google Pay) where available. If you need an individual invoice for a larger donation or for your organization's records, email us at support@principlecivics.com.

Yes. You can choose a monthly recurring donation on the donate page. You can manage or cancel a recurring donation by contacting support@principlecivics.com and, once available, via your account settings.

Donation – general-purpose support for the platform, operations, and ongoing development (similar to buying us a coffee). Gift subscription – directly funds premium access for a specific student or classroom for a fixed period. Both help sustain the project, but gifts are targeted toward learners.

No. Gifts are for a fixed period and do not auto-renew for the recipient. Only the original donor is charged, and only once per gift purchase.

If a gift is never redeemed, you can continue sharing its redemption link with someone else as long as it remains active. After a reasonable period (defined in policy), we may allocate its value into a general pool that helps fund access for low-income learners and classrooms.

Yes. Your private, password-protected gift page shows whether your gift has been redeemed and, for classrooms, how many seats were used.

Yes. As long as the gift hasn't been redeemed, you can share the same redemption link with someone else. If you run into issues or need to make a more complex change, contact support@principlecivics.com.

You purchase a bundle of seats for a set duration, receive a single link or code to share with your class, and your private page shows how many seats have been redeemed. Unused seats may, after a long period, be reallocated to support other low-income learners and classrooms.

Students create their own accounts using an email address and basic profile information so we can save progress and manage access. Students must be 13 or older to use the platform, and we recommend that they have parental or guardian permission. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Email support@principlecivics.com with any questions about your donation or gift. We will help you with payment issues, receipts, recipient changes, and anything else related to your support.
